Today, March 7, is the 147th birth anniversary of patriot and writer Tomas Remigio. Born in Sampaloc, Manila, in 1867, Remigio served as secretary of the civil government of Manila, commissioner of deeds and captain of the Army.
He died on Aug. 1, 1916. Pursuant to Resolution No. 8, Division Circular of the Department of Education approved on Jan. 6, 1953, the Municipal Council of Manila honored Remigio by renaming Tondo Elementary School after him. Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
