MANILA, Philippines—Dennis Cunanan is resigning as director general of the Technology Resource Center (TRC) to join the Junior Chamber International (JCI) in St. Louis, Missouri, as secretary general.
“He intends to resign soon, he’s working on his working visa, which he hopes to get this April,” said lawyer Odessa de la Cruz-Bernardo, lawyer for Cunanan, 43, who is on leave from the TRC.
Cunanan announced on his blog site his appointment to JCI, one of the biggest organizations in the world with members aged between 18 and 40.
Bernardo said Cunanan had informed Science Secretary Mario Montejo of his plan to resign even before he was implicated in the pork barrel scam late last year. She did not say how his application for state witness in the pork barrel scam would affect his plans to move to the United States.
Cunanan has been TRC director general since 2009.—Gil C. Cabacungan
