Public school teacher abducted by alleged Abu Sayyaf bandits

MANILA, Philippines—A public school teacher was abducted by alleged members of the Abu Sayyaf Group on Wednesday afternoon, the military said.

A certain Alrashid Jahang, a public school teacher of Taglibi Elementary School was abducted by the Abu Sayyaf led by Aljini Mundoc alias Ninok Sapari near sitio Baunoh, in Liang village in Patikul town at about 4p.m., said Captain Ryan Lacuesta, civil military operations officer of the 2nd Marine Brigade.

There were other 10 armed men in the abduction.

Lacuesta said the victim was onboard a motorcycle from Taglibi village on the way to Jolo town when it was flagged down by the group of Mundoc.

Jahang was “forcibly taken” by the bandits and fled towards the southeast direction.

Police and the military immediately launched hot pursuit operations for the victim, Lacuesta said.
