MANILA, Philippines—A small fire hit a luxury hotel Wednesday noon in Cebu City, but caused no disruption in the establishment’s operations, the city fire department said.
The generator set at the Basement 2 of Crown Regency Hotel and Towers along Fuente Osmeña Boulevard went up in flames around 12:30 p.m., said Senior Fire Officer 3 Emmanuel Cabus of the Cebu City Fire Department.
The four-star hotel is famous for Sky Extreme Adventure, offering hotel guests and tourists a 500-feet zipline experience from its topmost 45th floor.
Cabus told INQUIRER.net over the phone that a gasoline spill in the generator caused the fire.
He added that the fire reached the first alarm, prompting authorities to deploy four trucks.
The fire was put out at around 1 p.m. with no injuries reported.
Meanwhile, the desk officers of Crown Regency Hotel clarified that the operations in the hotel were not interrupted by the fire.
They also said that Basement 2 was a storage area and not a parking space for hotel customers.
Based on the initial investigation, the fire official said that damage to property was placed at P10,000.
