NCRPO looking for fresh recruits

MANILA, Philippines—The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) opened its doors to new applicants on Tuesday in a bid to meet the ideal police-civilian ratio of 1 to 500 in the metropolis.

The NCRPO currently has around 18,000 personnel assigned in four police districts: Northern (covering the cities of Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela); Southern (Makati, Pasay, Taguig, Pateros, Las Piñas, Parañaque and Muntinlupa); Eastern (Marikina, Pasig, Mandaluyong and San Juan); Manila; and Quezon City.

According to NCRPO spokesman Chief Insp. Roberto Domingo, the current ratio in the capital is 1 to 600.

Domingo said NCRPO chief Director Carmelo Valmoria was looking for applicants with “high scholastic records to improve the quality of the police force.”

Being computer-literate and a licensed driver are also “plus points,” he added.

Applicants must be Filipino citizens, 21 to 30 years old, college graduates, with certificates of good moral character from their schools.

Male applicants must be at least 1.62 meters in height, while females must be at least 1.57 meters.

Applicants must have passed at least one of the eligibility exams administered by the National Police Commission (Napolcom), the Professional Regulation Commission or the Civil Service Commission.

They can submit accomplished PO1 Recruitment Application forms, which can be downloaded from the Philippine National Police website, to the personnel and human resource development division of their nearest police district.

Applicants must also bring their accomplished Civil Service Personal Data Sheet (PDS) with two 2×2 ID photos and one whole-body picture with white background, two valid IDs, authenticated birth certificates, transcript of records and diploma, certificate of eligibility and board rating, and local clearances.—Jaymee T.
