MANILA, Philippines—“Daang Matuwid” would go on beyond 2016.
President Benigno Aquino III may step down from the presidency in 2016, but Malacañang is hoping that the crusade against corruption would continue in the next administration.
Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said Monday that the cases against those involved in the P10-billion Priority Development Assistance Fund scam would continue even with the change of administration.
“I will certainly hope, we will certainly hope that the justice system will continue,” Lacierda said at a media briefing.
He added that he looks forward to the proposition of Senate President Franklin Drilon to increase the number of courts under the Sandiganbayan to accommodate and hasten the process of persecuting those involved in the scam.
“This is not only for the PDAF cases, all cases that involve government officials,” Lacierda said.
