MANILA, Philippines–The bodies found in the upscale Bonifacio Global City in Taguig belonged to a mother and child slain by a man possibly “out of jealousy,” police said Friday.
On the day of the discovery of the bodies of 30-year-old Jonalyn Gantiao and her four-year-old child Gwenn Angel Thursday, the suspect, Gantiao’s live-in partner, was arrested by the police.
Senior Superintendent Arthur Felix Asis, Taguig City Police chief, said in a text message to reporters that jealousy drove the unnamed suspect to kill the mother and child, whom he left dead in a vacant lot along the southbound lane of C5 road.
Asis said witnesses saw the suspect with Gantiao and her toddler, who were all residents of Mini Park, Barangay (village) Fort Bonifacio, talking near the crime scene Wednesday night.
The next day at around 6:20 a.m., passers-by found the lifeless bodies of Gantiao and her child sprawled beside each other near Treston International College in BGC.
Asis said bloodstained rocks were found near the bodies, which may have been used to hit the victims in the head.
The elder victim wore a red shirt and a pair of denim pants while the child was wearing a violet shirt and a pair of blue jeans.
