Sunny weekend in Luzon, Visayas

MANILA, Philippines—Expect sunny weather over the weekend in most parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, and the Visayas, the state weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the northeast monsoon, which brings in cold winds from Siberia, remains the dominant weather system in Luzon and the Visayas.

On Friday, the prevailing northeasterly surface wind flow is expected to bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley, it said in its weekly advisory.

“Generally fair weather condition will be experienced over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and of Visayas apart from isolated light rains,” Pagasa said.

On the other hand, isolated afternoon rain showers or thunderstorms are expected in Mindanao, particularly over some areas of Caraga and Davao region, it said.

The first three days of March will see fair weather in Luzon and the Visayas, aside from isolated light rains, while Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with chances of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, Pagasa said.

No tropical cyclone is expected this week, it added.

Based on Pagasa’s 24-hour outlook, Cagayan Valley and Aurora province will experience cloudy skies with light rains. Metro Manila, Visayas and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

“Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail throughout the archipelago and the coastal waters will be moderate to rough,” it said.
