MANILA, Philippines—A woman and a young girl were found dead Thursday morning on a vacant lot along C-5 Road, Taguig City, near two schools in the upscale Bonifacio Global City (BGC).
Both victims apparently died of head injuries and remained unidentified at press time, police said.
Investigators said it was possible they were killed on the spot, after witnesses recalled seeing a woman holding a child while talking to a man in the same area around 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Bloodstained rocks were found near the bodies, which may have been used to hit the victims in the head, said Taguig police chief Senior Supt. Arthur Felix Asis.
The bodies were found lying next to each other around 6:20 a.m. near the wall of Treston International College and several meters away from International School Manila. Asis said the area was technically within Barangay (village) Fort Bonifacio, not under BGC jurisdiction, and was not covered by security cameras.
Asis described the woman to be about 30 years old and the girl, about 6 years old.
The woman was about 5 feet tall and was wearing a red shirt and denim jeans, while the child wore a violet shirt and blue pants.
The bodies remained unclaimed at Loreto Funeral Homes in Barangay Lower Bicutan, Taguig, as of late afternoon Thursday.
“Our policemen are going around the residential area in Makati City just across C-5 Road to ask the residents if they knew the victims,” Asis said.
