CEBU CITY—The Department of Health in Central Visayas has allotted P21 million for the rehabilitation and repair of
60 health facilities that were either destroyed or damaged when Supertyphoon “Yolanda” hit northern Cebu on Nov. 8.
The funding would cover nine rural health units, 48 barangay health stations and three hospitals, said Ruselle Gako, regional assistant coordinator of the health emergency management section.
Gako said bidding to select the contractor for the first batch of 25 health facilities was set for the first week of March. The contractor would be responsible for the purchase of construction materials.
Dr. Cynthia Genosolango, chief of the Cebu Integrated Provincial Health Office, said the repair of the facilities would follow the detailed architecture and engineering designs submitted by the provincial engineering office.
The design, she added, would make the facilities “typhoon-resilient.”
