MANILA, Philippines—Following his arrest on Friday, the Presidential Security Group officer who was allegedly caught cloning automated teller machine cards in Makati has been released.
Chief Inspector Gaylord Tamayo, Makati City Police Criminal Investigation Division deputy chief, confirmed to INQUIRER.net Wednesday that Raphael Malacay Marcial posted a P20,000 bail on Tuesday.
Marcial, a Navy officer and graduate of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 2008, was arrested on February 21 after he was allegedly caught carrying a scanner device used in ATM fraud.
Makati City police apprehended Marcial in front of an Eastwest Bank ATM booth along Chino Roces Avenue extension in Barangay (village) Magallanes
Police confiscated the scanner device Marcial allegedly used to copy personal identification numbers (PIN) of ATM users and cards bearing different names.
Herminio Coloma, Presidential Communication Operations Office secretary, said the PSG has already issued a relief order for Marcial.
Coloma said that depending on the inquest findings by the Manila Fiscal’s Office, the PSG and the Armed Forces of the Philippines will enforce their “set of disciplinary actions.”
Marcial will be slapped with charges for violating Republic Act 8484 , or the access devices regulation law.
