3.7-magnitude quake hits northern Luzon

MANILA, Philippines — A 3.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Cagayan at 12:10 p.m., the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said Wednesday.

The quake, with a depth of 41 kilometers, hit 153 kilometers north west of Calayan, Cagayan.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) earlier reported the same occurrence but said the magnitude was 4.6 and the depth at 9.81 kilometers. It said the epicenter was 167 kilometers west of Sabtang Island, Batanes.

No damages were reported and no aftershocks were expected.
