DOJ ready to offer protection to Mat Ranillo, says De Lima
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Justice (DOJ) is willing to provide protection for actor Mat Ranillo III if he wants to come out and testify for the government, Justice Secretary Leila De Lima said Tuesday.
Ranillo’s name was dragged into the pork barrel scam after his name was mentioned by government witness Ruby Tuason.
Reports say that Ranillo is willing to return to the country and talk as long he will be given protection by the government.
“If he asked for protection, we can always grant him,” De Lima told reporters, adding that Ranillo is not yet a respondent to any case related to the pork barrel scam.
“He can be an ordinary witness if he has valuable information to offer to us,” De Lima said.
