Man asks for help for sick son

RIVERA

Nasopharyngeal cancer—a disease in which malignant cells form in tissues of the upper part of the throat behind the nose— has made life difficult for 16-year-old Paulo Rivera.

Not only has it resulted in him losing weight, his condition has also forced him to drop out of high school where he is in third year.

His father, Nelson Rivera, a carpenter who works in Cardona, Rizal, said that Philippine Children’s Medical Center doctors have assured him that his son’s condition is highly treatable.

“They said that radiotherapy and the remaining three chemotherapy sessions can still save him. But why has he become so thin so fast?” he asked.

Nelson said he was hoping that Inquirer readers would help him raise the money his son needs for treatment— P180,000 for radiotherapy and three chemotherapy sessions which cost P31,000 each.

Nelson Rivera can be reached at 0948-4839073. Donors may deposit their donations in his brother-in-law Arnel Antinero’s RCBC bank account (#1159006073).
