The northeast monsoon, or “hanging amihan,” remained the dominant weather system affecting the country, resulting in generally overcast skies, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
According to the agency’s 24-hour weather outlook, the regions of Ilocos, Cordillera, Cagayan, Bicol and Eastern Visayas and the provinces of Aurora, Quezon, Marinduque and Romblon would experience cloudy skies with light rains.
On the other hand, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and Visayas would have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, Pagasa said.
Mindanao would be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong winds from the northeast would prevail throughout the archipelago and coastal waters would be moderate to rough, Pagasa said.
The weather bureau also issued on Saturday an advisory warning fisher folks of strong to gale-force winds that were expected to affect the seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Southern Luzon and Visayas.
Sea conditions would be rough to very rough, with waves reaching heights of 3.4 to 4.5 meters, Pagasa said.
Places covered by the gale warning are Batanes, the Calayan and Babuyan island groups, Cagayan, Isabela, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Aurora, Zambales, Bataan, the Camarines provinces, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon and Quezon, including Polilio Island, Samar, and Leyte.
