DepEd announces most outstanding SPED teachers, centers in 2013

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Education (DepEd) announced the winners of its search for the most outstanding special education (SPED) teachers and centers in 2013.

The latest search was organized by DepEd through the Bureau of Elementary Education SPED Division to laud the efforts of the schools, teachers and officials in the field of SPED, according to the DepEd website.

Among the criteria for selecting the most outstanding teachers are instructional competence, teaching effectiveness, personal qualities and character.

Meanwhile, criteria for best SPED centers are learner performance, linkages with stakeholders, classroom accessibility and functionality, and management and staff.

There were seven categories for nomination: autism, hearing impairment, visual impairment, intellectual disability, learning disability, teaching the gifted and talented, and children with special needs.

One candidate per region was selected for the final evaluation process.
