MANILA, Philippines—A soldier was killed in a landmine explosion in Calamba town, Misamis Occidental, police said Thursday.
Private First Class Darious Tormis, together with other members of the 55th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, was on board a military vehicle Wednesday morning when it hit a landmine in Barangay Mausawagon, reports reaching Camp Crame said.
They were heading back to their headquarters when the explosion occured, police said.
Authorities could not say yet who planted the landmine. Erika Villanueva
