Attempted Rape

A 35 year-old man was arrested for allegedly attempting to rape a 10 year-old girl in barangay South Poblacion, Naga City, yesterday morning.

Jose Marie Parame is now detained at the Naga City police precinct and will be facing appropriate charges.

PO1 Ronjie Nadora said the victim together with her father reported the incident to the police precinct.

The victim told authorities that the suspect and her uncle were having a drinking session near their house in sitio Tinago  when the suspect  grabbed her and covered her mouth with his hands.

The victim’s uncle  saw what happened and rescued the victim while the suspect was advised to go home.

Police pursued and arrested the suspect in his home. /correspondent gabriel bonjoc

Murder in Mandaue

A 45-year old market laborer was stabbed and wounded by his fellow laborer past 10 p.m. last Sunday in barangay Mantuyong, Mandaue City.

Normen Pesidas, a resident of the area, was rushed to the Mandaue City Hospital  where attending doctors declared him already dead.

Police investigation revealed that Pesidas and Raul Cabasa, 47, were having a heated argument over their workloads when the suspect suddenly stabbed Pesidas in the chest.

The victim tried to block the blows of Cabasa but was hit in the hands instead.

Cabasa attempted to flee but bystanders mauled him. He was brought to the hospital for treatment./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA

Lapu Robbery

A water-refilling station was robbed by two unidentified motorcycle-riding armed men at 7:30 p.m. last Sunday in barangay Babag 2, Lapu-Lapu City.

Randy Piamonte, 24, and Jeremy Cabihi, 18,  employees of Adelfa Purified Drinking Water,  sought police assistance after two men robbed them at gunpoint.

Police investigation revealed that the victims were tending the water station when the robbers came in and declared a holdup at gunpoint.

The men took their two mobile phones worth P5,000 and the day’s proceeds worth P7,000. Both hurriedly left the place on board a motorcycle.

The victims took the motorcycle’s plate number and reported it to the responding police officers.

Fetus found in Mandaue

A group of youngsters discovered a six-month-old male fetus placed inside a glass container buried in barangal Tipolo, Mandaue City, last Sunday.

Senior Insp. Franco Rudolf Oriol, Subangdaku police chief, said barangay tanod chief Tito Meranda reported the incident to the police.

Police initial investigation said the youngsters discovered the glass containing the fetus two feet below ground while they were digging to make a  basketball ring.

They immediately reported the incident to Meranda.

The fetus was turned over to the Tipolo barangay hall personnel, who buried it at the Mandaue City Public Cemetery.

Police are still conducting a follow-up operation to trace the parents./REPORTER JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS

UIOT SHOOTING

A 40-year-old man was found dead last Sunday night in barangay Quiot, Cebu City.

Arnold “Anot” Batuto was shot in  various parts of his body when he was found lying lifeless in an alley in sitio Sto. Niño.

Initial police investigation revealed that Batuto went to the place looking for his live-in partner Rain Hearth Sumalinog, 20.

But his cousin Mercy Estelliore, 26, told him the woman  was not around.

The victim then headed  home but was shot by an unidentified man in  different parts of his body.

Police recovered a cell phone, a loaded 357 revolver and .45-caliber pistol from the victim’s pocket.  Four slugs and six empty shells of a .45-caliber pistol were also recovered in the scene.

The victim’s remains will be subjected to autopsy. /Correspondent Rhea Ruth V. Rosell
