Sanctions set for bus firms in Camarines Sur crash

MANILA, Philippines – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will order on Monday the preventive suspension of two bus companies involved in an accident in Camarines Sur that left five people dead,  an Inquirer Radio 990AM  report said.

Lawyer Roberto Cabrera, LTFRB executive director, said they will issue the preventive suspension orders later in the day for Antonina Lines and Elavil Bus after their buses collided along Maharlika Highway in Barangay (village) Mambulo Nuevo, Libmanan, Camarines Sur on Sunday.

Those killed in the accident were Antonina Lines bus driver Christopher Prisulgo; Elavil Bus conductor Orlando Olit; Elavil Bus driver Elmer Bon; Antonina Lines bus passenger Marvin Ablay; and another still unidentified male passenger.

More than 40 people were injured and brought to nearby hospitals.

The LTFRB will summon the operators of both bus lines to have them explain why their respective franchises should not be canceled.
