MANILA, Philippines—A small fire struck the Court of Appeals building on Ma. Orosa Street in Ermita, Manila Thursday afternoon.
The blaze swept through a storage area between the personnel’s office of the Centennial Building and Annex 6 Building that started at 1:34 p.m., firefighters said.
Senior Fire Officer 3 John Joseph Jalique said the fire, which reached first alarm, was blamed on discarded cigarette butts that ignited a pile of rubbish in the area.
Security officers at the appeals court said they managed to put out the fire that lasted about 10 to 15 minutes.
