MANILA, Philippines—After the controversy and the brouhaha died down, families have started to live in the temporary shelters that the government built for the survivors of Super Typhoon “Yolanda.”
According to Corazon “Dinky” Soliman, Department of Social Welfare and Development secretary, a total of 1,373 families have transferred to the 60 completed bunkhouses in Leyte, Eastern Samar and Samar.
She said the “completed bunkhouses have rooms, toilets, baths and cooking areas.”
The DSWD chief added that all of the 60 bunkhouses have electricity and running water.
The target completion of the remaining bunkhouses is at the end of February and subsequently the immediate transfer of affected families.
