MANILA, Philippines—The country’s northern parts will continue to enjoy relatively cool weather due to the northeast monsoon, while Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have fairer weather, the state weather bureau said on Tuesday.

The northeast monsoon, which ushers in cold winds from Siberia, remains the dominant weather system in Northern and Central Luzon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

According to Pagasa’s weekly outlook, the Batanes, Calayan and the Babuyan groups of islands will have cloudy skies with light rains while the regions of Ilocos, Cordillera, Central Luzon and the rest of Cagayan Valley will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

“Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms,” it said.

On Wednesday, cloudy skies with light rains are expected over some parts of Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Administrative Region.

Likewise, isolated light rains will be experienced over some areas of Ilocos region and Central Luzon. Metro Manila and the rest of the archipelago, particularly the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

On Thursday and Friday, Eastern Visayas, Caraga and Davao region will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms. However, some areas of Cagayan Valley will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

For the rest of the week, the easterlies, which bring warm, moist winds from the Pacific ocean, will be the dominant weather system; thus, “summer-like” weather will prevail in most parts of the archipelago, Pagasa said.
