MANILA, Philippines – A car caught fire Friday on the southbound lane of Edsa Malibay in Pasay City, causing heavy traffic in the area, a fire official said.

Fire Officer 2 Mark Ryan Lanuzga, of the Pasay City Fire Station, told INQUIRER.net in a phone interview that the burning vehicle was a BMW 2007 model owned by a certain Patrick Espenilla.

Lanuzga said the blaze started 8:27 p.m. but was put out by Pasay firefighters after almost 30 minutes at 8:56 p.m.

No one was reported injured in the incident.

Based on the investigation, a short circuit due to faulty electrical wiring caused the car to burn.
