Another honest porter at Naia
Another porter at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) earned praise from his peers and superiors when he returned a pouch containing cash to its owner, an Australian traveler, who left it at the arrival area Wednesday night.
Rodolfo Bernal Jr., 46, a resident of Imus, Cavite province, and a Naia employee assigned to retrieve pushcarts, noticed the gray pouch on one of the pushcarts on the driveway around 9:45 p.m. and immediately alerted his supervisor Andro Laxina.
The pouch contained Australian dollars equivalent to around P60,000, as well as the passport of Koby Edward Max Griffiths.
Naia Terminal 1 manager Dante Basanta said that thanks to Bernal, Griffiths got his money and passport back two hours later.
Bernal has been working as a contractual airport employee for the past 14 years with a take-home monthly pay of P12,000.
Last week, Bernal’s fellow porter, Jony Villon, also returned $4,800 in cash that was found in an envelope left by a seafarer’s wife. Jerome Aning
