MANILA, Philippines – The project manager of the Light Rail Transit (LRT)-1 Cavite extension eyes its completion during the first quarter of 2019.
Engineer Danilo Tolentino said in the House transportation committee hearing Wednesday that the project would increase the mobility of commuters from Roosevelt station all the way to Bacoor, Cavite.
The first phase that would reach Sucat, Paranaque is set to be completed in June 2017, Tolentino said at the hearing.
The extension to Bacoor, Cavite is set to finish in 2019, he added.
The start of the manufacturing and construction will be in October 2014, Tolentino said.
Prospective bidders include Metro Pacific Investments Corp., San Miguel Corp., DMCI Holdings, MTD-Samsung Group, and Megawide Construction Group.
Tolentino said that they would add 120 light rail vehicles for the extension project.
The project would add 11.7 kilometers railway line from the Baclaran terminal. It would also add eight new passenger stations.
