TRICYCLE franchise holders in Mandaue City are given until Oct. 15 to comply with franchise requirements.

City Administrator James Abadia said the Traffic Enforcers Agency of Mandaue (TEAM) had already started operations against  tricycles with fake franchises

In their operations to check the franchises, Abadia said they had already found out that one franchise owner had 18 units.

He said a city ordinance would only grant a franchise for every unit.

He also found out that there were 5,000 tricycle units plying city routes when the city was only allowing 2,000 units.

Yesterday, he said there were 600 franchise holders who visited their office to have their franchises checked and renewed.

He said the city was not against tricycle operators but it would be unfair for legitimate franchise holders if the city would allow those who had fake franchises to ply city routes

Abadia said that the local government is also looking for alternative ways in giving livelihood to other tricycle holders to give them income. /REPORTER JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS
