Free Davis Cup tickets at stake
Tickets for the Davis Cup Asia Oceania Zone Group 1 knockout tie between the Philippines and Chinese Taipei on Sept. 16, 17 and 18 at the Plantation Bay Resort and Spa will be given out to the first 50 spectators who will watch the exhibition match of the Cebuana Lhuillier Philippine Davis Cup Team today at the Marcelo Fernan Bridge.
The activity will start at 2 p.m. Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia and Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Corro Radaza will be special guests to the event.
One lane of the bridge from Lapu-Lapu to Mandaue will be closed for the event, which will be done to drum up participation for the international tennis tournament.
Organizers and the team are hoping for a jampacked crowd supporting the Philippine team during matches.
This is the reason why at the request of RP team captain Cecil Mamiit, ticket prices have been lowered from P500 to P200 per day. Season tickets are also available for P500 good for three days.
The team will have their hands full with just four days to go before they face Chinese Taipei in a very crucial match as the loser in this match will be relegated to Group 2.
