De Lima says they will arrest Bangayan after Senate hearing
MANILA, Philippines – Justice Secretary Leila de Lima on Monday said they will arrest Davidson Bangayan, alleged rice smuggler David Tan, after the ongoing hearing of the Senate committee on Agriculture.
“We are ready to implement the arrest warrant…right after this meeting we will,” De Lima said.
Bangayan is accused of being the central figure in the rice smuggling operations in the country. He has repeatedly denied such, claiming that he is only a small-business man.
He is currently in the Senate, together with De Lima and other government officials, as a resource person on the ongoing probe on rice smuggling.
