DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines—The wife of a councilor here was robbed at gunpoint Sunday night after withdrawing money from an automated teller machine (ATM).

Councilor Jose Netu Tamayo said in his Facebook account that his wife, Dr. Cherifair Tamayo, was about to leave an ATM machine along Perez Blvd. here at about 9 p.m. when two men on a motorcycle approached her and pointed a gun at her.

One of the men, he said, then grabbed his wife’s bag, and before the robbers escaped, she was hit with a gun and punched in the stomach.

Tamayo did not say how much money her wife lost to the robbers.
