Man evading checkpoint hits Aquino’s van

/ 05:32 AM February 03, 2014

A motorcycle driver’s spur of the moment decision turned out to be a bad idea when he hit a van belonging to President Aquino while fleeing from a police checkpoint because he did not have a driver’s license.

Fortunately for Milestone Capisnan, Aquino had told the police that he has no intention of taking the former to court for the damage done to his vehicle, a Mitsubishi L300 van.

The 20-year-old Capisnan, however, still has to explain why he was driving without a license. He and his passenger, 21-year-old Nathaniel Monteverde of Taguig City, were also slightly injured after they fell off the motorcycle.

The two were on a motorcycle on Times Street in Quezon City near the President’s house when Capisnan spotted a police checkpoint ahead. Not wanting to be caught for driving without a license, he made a quick U-turn, but the maneuver caused him to lose his balance. As a result, the motorcycle he was driving tipped over and hit a van parked by the side of the street.
