Zamboanga City—Army troops on Sunday killed three suspected Abu Sayyaf members in a clash that also wounded a soldier, the military said.
Army chief Lt. Gen. Arturo Ortiz said government troops clashed for 30 minutes with at least 20 gunmen near Barangay Etub-etub in Sumisip, Basilan.
Ortiz said three gunmen were killed while the others fled aboard three motorboats.
Regional military spokesperson Lt. Col. Randolph Cabangbang said the gunmen had been providing logistical help to the Abu Sayyaf.
