MANILA, Philippines—Tropical depression “Basyang” is now over the West Philippine Sea as it heads away from the country, the state weather bureau said Saturday.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 5 p.m. bulletin that Basyang maintained its strength at 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center.
Only northern Palawan including Calamian Group of Islands, Oriental Mindoro and Occidental Mindoro remain under signal number 1.
Basyang as of 4 p.m. was spotted at 88 kilometers southwest of Coron, Palawan.
It is forecast to be out of the country’s area of responsibility or 764 kilometers west of Coron, Palawan Sunday afternoon.
Pagasa warned residents living in low lying and mountainous areas under public storm warning signal number 1 of possible flashfloods and landslides.
Owners of fishing boats and other small vessels were advised not to venture into the eastern seaboard of Luzon and southern seaboard of southern Luzon due to the surge of the northeast monsoon.
