45 flights cancelled due to bad weather

MANILA, Philippines—Forty-five domestic flights have been cancelled as Tropical Depression Basyang (Tajiki) brings rains in most provinces of Luzon and Visayas.

In the latest advisory of the Department of Transportation and Communication posted on Twitter, it listed the 45 cancelled Philippine Airlines Express, Cebu Pacific and AirAsia Zest flights.

Meanwhile, two flights were also cancelled due to aircraft situation:

Before noon Saturday, Basyang weakened into a tropical depression from a tropical storm as it approached northern Palawan.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 11 a.m. bulletin that Basyang’s strength weakened to 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center.

Signal no. 1 is raised over the following areas in Luzon: Romblon, Palawan including Calamian Group of Islands, southern part of Oriental Mindoro, and southern part of Occidental Mindoro.

In some Visayas provinces, including Negros Occidental, Guimaras, Aklan, Capiz, Antique and Iloilo, signal no. 1 was also raised.
