MANILA, Philippines – Customers may no longer worry about not being given the exact change after a lawmaker filed a bill penalizing business establishments that won’t be able to do so to their customers.
Las Piñas City Representative Mark Villar filed House Bill number 3606 or the “Exact Change Act” that would deem unlawful for businesses not to give the exact change.
Violators may be fined from P500 to P25,000, the bill read.
Businesses should also put up a “Demand your exact change” sign in their counters, the lawmaker said.
