Kidnapped boy rescued by cops from suspects’ lair in Cavite

MANILA, Philippines- The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said they have successfully rescued a six-year-old boy kidnapped in Cavite two weeks ago.

Deputy Director General Felipe Rojas, PNP chief for administration, said the victim was rescued on Thursday (Jan. 23) from the suspects’ hideout in Carmona town.

Rojas said two of the suspects identified as Noel Obing Raymundo, a former member of the Philippine Air Force, and Noel Tolledo were nabbed in their hideout.

Three other suspects identified as Elias de Leon, a former member of the PNP, Fernan Maala and Efren Marcina were arrested in a series of follow-up operations by the Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) of the PNP.

Last January 9, the victim and his driver were abducted by the suspects on their way to school and demanded a P20-million ransom.

The family allegedly paid an initial amount of P883,000 in exchange for the victims but only the driver was released, police said.

Rojas said the arrested suspects were members of the same group believed to be responsible in the kidnapping of a minor in Tanay, Rizal, last year.

PNP said the successful police operation can be attributed to the full cooperation and trust of the family to the PNP-AKG.
