2 dead, 2 survive as boat capsizes in Quezon
LUCENA CITY, Philippines—Two persons drowned but their two companions survived when big waves battered their motor boat after it stalled in rough seas off Burdeos in Quezon earlier this week, a belated police report said.
The report said that around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, the boat carrying Loreto Estrada, 55, Arlyn de los Santos, 5, Mike Estrada, 17, and Angelo de los Santos, 10, all residents of Barangay Aluyon, stalled due to engine trouble.
Strong waves battered the boat, damaging it badly and forcing the four people aboard to jump into the choppy water, the report said. The boat eventually capsized, the report added.
A search and rescue team found the bodies of Arlyn de los Santos and Loreto Estrada at 1 a.m. Thursday along the coast of Burdeos.
The two other passengers– Mike and Angelo–managed to survive, the report said, without specifying how.
