MANILA, Philippines—Too drunk to go home? Leave it to the bartender.
A lawmaker filed a bill requiring owners of establishments to call on behalf of their customers a transportation service that would bring them home after a heavy drinking spree.
This as COOP-NATCCO party-list representative Anthony Bravo filed House Bill 3450 or “An Act providing for alternative transportation assistance for inebriated customers of alcohol-serving establishments.”
If there is no transportation service, the owner would instead call a relative of the intoxicated patrons, the bill read.
The proposed law requires establishments to post a sign that said : “Drinking and driving do not mix. If requested, management will assist you in placing a local call in an effort to obtain alternative transportation.”
The establishment should have a license to sell alcoholic beverage, the bill read.
The lawmaker filed the bill in a bid to curb road accidents due to drunk driving.
The bill was referred to the transportation committee.
