Did you know: Vito Cruz to Pablo Ocampo Street

VITO Cruz Street in Malate, Manila, was renamed Pablo Ocampo Street after lawyer and Commissioner Pablo Ocampo. Born on Jan. 25, 1853, in Manila, he was a member of the Malolos Congress and a resident commissioner to the US. He is known for his opposition to the Payne Tariff Bill which established free trade between the Philippines and the US. He also served in the Philippine Assembly of 1907 and 1909. Ocampo died on Feb. 5, 1925. Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
