Ship runs aground off Cebu
MANILA, Philippines — MV Weesam 7 while enroute from Ormoc City to Cebu ran aground at Lauis Ledge, Talisay, Cebu at 6:40 p.m. Thursday with 160 passengers onboard.
Rescue operation of the passengers is ongoing.
The location where MV Weesam 7 is currently aground is near the vicinity where MV St. Thomas Aquinas sank last August 2013
Philippine Coast Guard says that the probable cause why the vessel ran aground is due to the strong winds and waves.
