An alleged drug peddler in Quezon City killed the son of his enemy apparently over a drug deal gone sour Wednesday morning, police said.
Jehar Sultan fled and remained at large after shooting his neighbor Joemari Carlotta dead at the latter’s rented home on Kalinisan Street, Barangay Commonwealth.
PO2 Anthony Tejerero, the case investigator, said the suspect held a grudge with the victim’s father John and apparently took his anger out on the young man instead.
Sultan and the elder Carlotta reportedly had a dispute concerning a drug deal last week, with Sultan issuing death threats, Tejerero said. John Carlotta had since gone into hiding.
According to witnesses in the Carlotta household, Joemari was sleeping at the living room when Sultan barged in around 10 a.m. armed with a .45-cal. pistol.
Shot by Sultan in the face and body, the 20-year-old mechanic died on the spot.
When police searched Sultan’s home, they found a weighing scale, drug paraphernalia and a plastic sachet with traces of suspected “shabu,” Tejerero said. Julie M. Aurelio
