Suspected drug peddler sought for killing son of ‘enemy’

MANILA, Philippines — Police are now on a manhunt for an alleged drug peddler believed to have shot dead the son of his enemy on Wednesday morning in Quezon City.

Joemari Carlotta, 20, died after he found himself on the receiving end of his neighbor’s rage against his father on Kalinisan Street in Barangay (village) Commonwealth.

Police Officer 2 Anthony Tejerero, the case investigator, said the young man was allegedly killed by a neighbor, Jehar Sultan, who was at odds with the victim’s father.

Carlotta’s father and Sultan were allegedly involved in the illegal drugs trade until last week when they had a dispute.

Since then, the victim’s father went into hiding after the suspect threatened to kill him and his family.

Neighbors tagged Sultan as the one who shot Carlotta inside the suspect’s rented unit at around 10:30 am.

Carlotta, a motorcycle mechanic, died on the spot due to gunshot wounds in the body and face. Police recovered two live bullets and seven spent shells of a .45 caliber fun from the crime scene.

Also found inside Sultan’s unit were a weighing scale, illegal drugs paraphernalia, and a transparent plastic sachet with traces of suspected shabu.

The victim’s housemates said Carlotta was sleeping in the living room of his own house when Sultan barged in with a gun.

At gunpoint, the suspect dragged the victim into his own unit and shot him before running off.
