MANILA, Philippines—Out of 13,500 police aspirants, only 2,560 will soon take oath as police officers 1 after successfully hurdling the Philippine National Police entrance test in October.
Eduardo Escueta, National Police Commission (Napolcom) vice chairman and executive officer, announced only 2,560 or 18.96-percent of the examinees will be appointed as police officers 1 after Napolcom released the list of PNP Entrance and Promotional Examinations passers on Tuesday.
0n October 20 last year, 33,014 police aspirants took the administered police examinations, including the initial requirement to qualify for PO1 and police promotional exams, in designated schools and testing centers nationwide.
But in total, only 8,345 or 25.28-percent passed among the 33,014 examinees.
A total of 8,345 or 25.28% out of the 33,014 examinees passed the Napolcom-administered police examinations conducted on October 20, 2013, in designated schools in Metro Manila and other testing centers nationwide.
Meanwhile, of the 19,514 examinees who took the promotional tests for Police Officers, Senior Police Officers, Inspectors, and Superintendent, only 5,785 passed.
For last year’s promotional examinations, only 57 will be conferred as Superintendents, while 162 will take oath at inspectors.
In the Senior Police Officer exam, 1,994 passed while 3,572 passed for Police Officer exams.
Escueta said the 18.96-percent passing rate in the entrance exam is 7.15-percent higher this October.
Last May, Napolcom only recorded 11.81-percent passing rate in the PNP entrance exam.
“The significant increase in the passing percentage in the entrance and promotional examinations is an indication that the members of our police force are becoming more capable, effective and efficient,” Escueta said. “This may also be partly attributed to the lessening of the number of test questions from 200 to 150 items which allowed the examinees more time to finish the exam,” he added.
Escueta assured that the Napolcom will not tolerate any form of examination irregularities, such as cheating, impersonation, perjury or violation of examination rules, since the Napolcom has a computer system that keeps track of the answer patterns of examinees.
Escueta said that the list of successful examinees is already posted at the Napolcom central office in Makati City and can be viewed at the Napolcom website at www.napolcom.gov.ph.
He also said that individual reports of rating will be sent in the mailing addresses of the examinees.
