Heavy traffic expected in Makati due to Skyway 3 launch
MANILA, Philippines—Expect heavy traffic along Buendia Avenue in Makati as some roads will be closed Wednesday afternoon to give way for the Skyway Stage 3 launching.
The Skyway operator, Skyway O & M Corporation, advised motorists in its latest advisory to anticipate congested roads going to and fro Buendia Avenue.
The constructor of the Skyway stage 3, Citra Central Expressway Corporation, said only one lane each on the Skyway’s Buendia on-ramp (southbound) and off-ramp (northbound) will be open to traffic from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m.
“Motorists bound for Makati and Manila are advised to exit at Magallanes, Don Bosco and Amorsolo. Southbound motorists may opt to proceed to Magallanes on-ramp to enter the Skyway system,” it added.
President Benigno Aquino III will lead the official opening of Skyway Stage 3 project along with Transportation secretary Emilio Abaya, Public Works and Highways secretary Rogelio Singson, Metro Manila Development Authority chair Francis Tolentino, cabinet secretaries and city mayors.
The elevated expressway, which is 14.8 kilometer long, stretches from Buendia to Balintawak in Quezon City.
