MANILA, Philippines—A 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck off Babuyan Islands at 9:59 a.m. Wednesday, the US Geological Survey said.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injury from the undersea quake that centered 125 kilometers north northwest of Claveria in Cagayan at a depth of 49.6 kilometers.
The Philippines sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” making it prone to earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
