MANILA, Philippines—The youth representative in the House of Representatives has sought an investigation of the discriminatory practices of schools against lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders (LGBT), in order to allow legislators to craft new laws to protect their rights.

Kabataan party-list Rep. Terry Ridon made the call in a resolution, as he noted that LGBT groups have found discriminatory practices in schools that include the humiliation of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders by their classmates, teachers and school personnel, and the expulsion of and banning of those who cross-dress inside schools.—Leila B.
