Sandiganbayan justice ordered probed over Napoles ties

MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court has ordered the investigation of Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Gregory Ong’s links to “pork barrel” scam principal suspect Janet Lim Napoles.

High court’s information chief Theodore Te said in a statement Tuesday that they will assign a retired Supreme Court justice to handle the investigation and it will be treated as a regular administrative case.

The high court ordered an investigation after Ong was mentioned by whistleblower Benhur Luy during a Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing as a contact of Napoles.

Ong has already submitted his explanation to the high court.

“Today’s [Tuesday] action ends the motu propio inquiry and commences the administrative case against Justice Ong,” Te said.
