Pagasa warns of landslides, flashfloods in Visayas and Mindanao

MANILA, Philippines—Moderate to heavy rains from the low pressure area hovering over Mindanao may cause landslides and flash floods in several regions in the southern tip of the country,  the state weather bureau said.

As of 11 a.m. Tuesday, the LPA was estimated at 465 kilometers east of Davao City that would bring cloudy skies over Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Compostella Valley, and Davao Oriental, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

The northeast monsoon (locally known as Amihan) would still bring cold weather to the country and strong to gale force winds would affect the seaboards of Luzon, Visayas and the Caraga region in Mindanao.

Pagasa warned owners of small sea vessels of large waves due to the weather disturbance.
