MANILA, Philippines—The low pressure area, which was previously Tropical Depression Agaton, continued to hover near Davao City on Tuesday and posed threats of possible flashfloods and landslides.
“The regions of Eastern Visayas, Caraga and Northern Mindanao and the provinces of Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental will experience cloudy skies with moderate to heavy rains and thunderstorms which may trigger flashfloods and landslides,” the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
Eastern Visayas was previously hardly hit by Super Typhoon Yolanda last November.
Agaton had already claimed at least 40 lives and displaced thousands.
The LPA was last observed 415 kilometers east southeast of Davao City. It was tropical depression Agaton before it weakened into an LPA midday Monday.
Pagasa has said the LPA might dissipate after three days or less.
The rest of Mindanao, meanwhile, will be cloudy with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms.
The northeast monsoon continued to affect Luzon and Visayas, Pagasa said.
Visayas will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains, while Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated light rains.
