Cristino Naguiat Jr.: Reappointed INQUIRER FILE PHOTO
MANILA, Philippines—Cristino Naguiat Jr. remains at the helm of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor).
Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said Saturday that President Aquino had reappointed Naguiat, the Pagcor chair and chief executive officer, and renewed the appointments of all four members of the board of directors of the gaming firm—Jorge Sarmiento, Eugene Manalastas, Enriquito Nuguid and Jose Tanjuatco. Sarmiento also serves as the chief operating officer of Pagcor.
The President signed their appointments on Jan. 15. They will serve until June 30, 2014.
In a statement, Naguiat and the board expressed their “deep gratitude to President Aquino for continuously trusting them with the management” of the state-run gaming firm.
He said Pagcor remained steadfast in its role as a partner of government in nation-building.
“Foremost among the several advocacies of Pagcor is the improvement of the quality of education in the country by providing thousands of classrooms nationwide even in far-flung areas. To date, it has allocated P5 billion for its school building project, the biggest corporate social responsibility project of Pagcor in its 28-year history,” he said.
Aquino also reappointed the directors of the Philippine National Oil Company-Renewables Corp. (PNOC-RC) and the Intercontinental Broadcasting Corp. (IBC) 13.
They will serve until June 30, 2014.
Appointed to the PNOC-RC board of directors was Rafael Iriarte. Edwin Vincent Ortiz was appointed member of the board of directors of the Tourism Promotions Board.
In the IBC 13 board, the President extended the appointments of Jose Avellana Jr., Manolito Cruz, Ernesto Maipid Jr., Reynaldo Castro, Jose Rafael Hernandez, Lauro Vizconde and Diosdado Marasigan.
He also appointed Jaime Alanis (vice Eric Canoy) and Arturo Alejandrino (vice Ronald Ricketts) as members of the IBC 13 board.
The President named Ricardo Lapesura Jr. as the newest member of Tripartite Voluntary Arbitration Advisory Council of the National Conciliation and Mediation Board, which is under the Department of Labor and Employment.
Lapesura, who represents the labor sector, will have a three-year term, replacing lawyer Augusto Villanueva.
