Substandard steel, floor tiles seized in Caloocan shops
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has confiscated P700,000 worth of uncertified and substandard steel bars, angle bars and ceramic tiles from hardware stores on Quirino Highway in Caloocan City. In a statement, the DTI said it confiscated early this week 10,181 pieces of these products from WDL Enterprises and Xtreme Unite Steel Inc. which were issued violation notices for selling uncertified and substandard construction materials. The notices required the two firms to appear before the DTI to air their side within 48 hours. Victorio Mario A. Dimagiba, officer in charge of the DTI Consumer Protection Group, said they would file a complaint against the retailers within the week. Torres HS Batch ’64 golden jubilee
A weeklong celebration is in the works as Class ’64 of Torres High School in Tondo, Manila, marks its golden jubilee year. According to the Balik-Torres 2014 planning committee, the 50th anniversary bash starts with a fellowship night on Feb. 8, Saturday, followed by a Bisita/Handog sa Torres sentimental visit on Feb. 10, Monday.
